Help for Haiti by Tomah High School Students Tomah High School Students are raising money to benefit victims of the Haiti earthquake. Alyssa Weaver’s Minority Studies and Social Issues Class will be carrying jars around school collecting money; they will also be sponsoring a dance and collecting money at sporting events. Joy Blackburn’s play kids will be collecting donations at their performances of the play this weekend and may be finding other ways to be involved as well. We have set a goal of $10,000 to be raised for the organization Doctors Without Borders and ear-marked specifically for Haiti. This seems like a lofty goal, but the kids are enthusiastic and very motivated and it breaks down to only $10 per student at the high school. If you would like to help contribute to this cause please visit: www.firstgiving.com/tomahhopeforhaiti. Channel 8 News was here on Monday interviewing some of the students involved in the current fundraising activities and it aired on Monday night. Here is a link to the story if you would like to see it online. http://www.wkbt.com/global/story.asp?s=11884689 Thanks you for your help. |
